East Midlands

Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, and Lincolnshire.

This region includes the Peak District National Park, a perfect choice for a dog-friendly holiday with endless walking opportunities. The hilly landscapes (the highest point is Kinder Scout at 2,088ft) provide plenty of wide open spaces for your dog to enjoy.

Explore well-marked dog friendly paths and facilities in Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park, around Rutland Water and Rockingham Forest.

The Lincolnshire coastline offers a mixture of wild and unspoilt landscapes which attract migrating birds, if birdwatching is your thing. There are classic seaside resorts such as Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes where dogs are welcome. Do remember to check to see if there are any dog restrictions on these beaches and when dogs are allowed before you go to avoid any disappointment.

Dog friendly attractions in the region include the RSPB’s Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve and The Heights of Abraham with its Alpine-style cable cars at Matlock Bath. Castles and stately homes to visit include Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, Burghley House in Lincolnshire, and the mysterious Elizabethan Lyveden New Bield House in Northants, all of which have attractive grounds that owners and dogs can enjoy.
